Govt to Reduce Taxes on Milk in Upcoming Budget

Islamabad: The government is likely to reduce the taxes on milk in the upcoming budget 2025-26.
The Food ministry has assured the delegation of Dairy Association that the Ministry is actively working towards reducing taxes on milk and assured that good news in this regard will be shared soon.
Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, held a meeting with a delegation of the Dairy Association to discuss the pressing challenges faced by the dairy industry in Pakistan.Pakistan and Belarus to Strengthen Trade Ties
During the meeting, the delegation highlighted key issues, with a strong emphasis on the taxation of milk. The Federal Minister stated that milk is a basic necessity for every citizen and should either be tax-free or subjected to minimal tax. He announced that the Ministry is actively working towards reducing taxes on milk and assured that good news in this regard will be shared soon.
Rana Tanveer Hussain stressed that many rural farmers rely on selling milk as their primary source of income, and the government is fully committed to protecting their livelihoods. He further informed that the Ministry will soon organize a seminar, inviting all stakeholders to collaborate and find sustainable solutions to the problems faced by the dairy sector.
The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to pro-farmer policies and emphasized that the development of the dairy sector remains one of the top priorities for the Ministry of National Food Security & Research.
