Pakistan Car Sales Soar 46% in 9MFY25

Staff Report

Pakistan car sales, as reported by PAMA, reached 11,098 units in March 2025, marking an 18% year-on-year increase, though down 8% compared to February.

The month-on-month decline was largely attributed to the high base in February 2025, a period when sales typically spike at the start of the year. March figures were also impacted by reduced sales and delayed deliveries during Ramazan due to shorter working hours and subdued consumer activity.Over 2M Bank Cards Leaked on Dark Web

Year-on-year growth, on the other hand, was supported by a more stable macroeconomic environment, declining interest rates, easing inflation, and improved consumer sentiment. The launch of new models and variant introductions also played a key role in attracting buyers.

This brings total car sales for the first nine months of FY25 to 100,868 units, reflecting a 46% rise from 69,081 units during the same period last year.

Company-wise performance showed varying trends. Sazgar Engineering (SAZEW) recorded sales of 943 units in March 2025, up 87% year-on-year and 7% month-on-month, driven by sustained demand for HAVAL variants. Cumulative 9MFY25 sales surged 153% year-on-year to 8,027 units, compared to 3,172 in 9MFY24.

Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) posted an 11% year-on-year rise in March sales, though down 15% month-on-month. Models such as Alto, Ravi, Swift, and Every continued to perform strongly.

Indus Motor Company (INDU) saw an impressive 84% year-on-year and 20% month-on-month increase, largely fueled by strong demand for the Corolla and Yaris.

Hyundai Nishat recorded a 19% year-on-year rise in sales, though experienced a 10% decline month-on-month. Meanwhile, Honda Atlas Cars (HCAR) witnessed a 35% year-on-year and 30% month-on-month drop.

Sales of two- and three-wheelers rose by 34% year-on-year but were down 3% month-on-month, totaling 125,311 units in March 2025. This figure excludes data from Royal Prince Motorcycle and some three-wheeler models, which is still awaited. For 9MFY25, sales climbed 31% year-on-year to 1,089,922 units.

Tractor sales continued to struggle, with only 1,538 units sold in March, reflecting a 67% year-on-year drop and flat month-on-month performance. Total sales for 9MFY25 stood at 23,230 units, down 34% year-on-year.

Truck and bus sales in March rose 47% year-on-year but declined 5% month-on-month, reaching 460 units. This takes 9MFY25 sales to 3,365 units, up 80% from 1,869 units in the same period last year.

Outlook:
Auto sales have rebounded sharply in FY25 and are expected to maintain this momentum. Key drivers include lower interest rates, a stable rupee, new model launches, and post-Ramazan delivery normalization.
